This 1929 38-foot Chris-Craft Commuter, Hull Number 5027, may be the best preserved original 38 Commuter that exists. It has always been kept in a boathouse and kept under cover. It has all of it’s original equipment including dual helm controls with a forward steering station in the open forward cockpit ahead of the cabin. All controls are complete, as well as a rare forward canopy and a sliding Navy top. The lineage and provenance of the boat can be traced back to the beginning when it was sold from the factory to Lake Winnipesaukee. After spending nearly all of her life on the lake, she was sold to her current owner who has restored various aspects of her. Originally powered by a Chris Craft A-70 and then later repowered by a Scripps 302 which remained in the boat through the 1970's. There is currently no engine, opening up the option for a powerplant. Photos are recent and reflective of the current condition. Much work has been completed including refastening of the bottom and replacement of the front deck and cabin top. She has been well-kept indoors. This is a worthy and attainable project that can be completed by her next custodian in a matter of months.
