Delivered to George & Bliss in Lake Placid for touring in 1929 as a Sedanm 12 our Chris Craft has had a nice history. Circa early 30s the hardtop was removed and a windshield installed, probably to mimic the popular 22 cadets which were gaining popularity at the time. She was sold to a doctor in the early 40's who had a camp on Bull Island next door to Kate Smith (God Bless America). It was told that before Kate became an avid boater herself she caught rides to her camp in our Chris Craft which at the time was named "Big Toot". Due to a fire at the main house on Bull Island "Big Toot" spent many years inside a boat house until being sold to a very kind Long Island NY Doctor in 1977, I was 15. My stepfather restored the boat, renamed "Snark", and I would become the boats sole caretaker and eventual owner to date. We have taken care of Snark, maintaining her originality as best as possible very the past many years. We have replaced several bottom planks (she is double hulled) In 1989 I rebuilt the entire topsides, in 2000 I replaced the hull from the chine up. Since I have been maintaining her finish and engine. The Snark sits on her trailer presently and is in very good shape. She is not a polished show girl but she is show worthy and very nice with very comfy upholstery which is period accurate. I have the original engine which has been rebabbited and can be reassembled, I also have a 2nd engine or the same year. Currently there is a 1978 470 mercruiser engine in the boat which runs decently but is itself pretty old. Snark is a beauty as is, or if you are a fanatic a perfect candidate to be cherries out and shown. She was the coolest boat I ever saw as a 15 year old in 1977 and she still is even now at my age of 63.
