Greyhound was built in a little boathouse shop on beautiful Lake Courd'Alene Idaho in 1921. She roared around the lake with the Gentlemen of the era holding tightly to their straw hats. The original construction was of Oak frames with Cypress planking, which attests for her being with us today. The boat has been completely restored utilizing about 50% of her original frames and hullsides, then cold molding using West System processes and Courong marine plywood. The Rolls Royce Meteor 750 HP engine is carburated to run on regular fuel, and the craft is truely a daily user, not museum furniture. Sitting in the cockpit looking at Rolls Royce era guages, ers specific shift/throttle levers, one feels like he/she is ready for take-off.

Chris-Craft established the Cavalier division in 1955 to concentrate on plywood construction techniques and to take advantage of the expanding mid-priced market. One of its first offerings was this 17' Utility with inboard power from a variety of Chris-Craft badged Hercules engines. It proved to be popular, with 936 hulls built in just 5 years production. The 1955 model is identifiable by its 2-piece vee-windshield; later models used a curved single piece windscreen. With a hull length of 16' 11" and a draft of only 18" the Utility was adaptable to many applications and uses. Its mahogany plywood finish is complemented by flame red and white interior upholstery. This example is powered by the Hercules/Chris-Craft K inline six-cylinder 95hp engine and is nicely equipped with horns mounted on the forward deck and a ski tow hookup and comes on a very sharp red painted trailer which matches its bottom color. It is currently licensed through 2009 in Ohio.

Every option other than twin screw was included at manufacture. Complete hull restoration 2004, new hull varnish 2009, electrical 2003, new block including engine rebuilt 2004, chrome plated 2004 (95%) and period correct seat surfaces 2004. Hull # 036 of 144. Only freshwater operated, low total hours. The engine rebuild just upgraded the block so to keep the original look of the engine. The only year the boat was used since 2004 was 2008. This very pretty boat was built by Ditchburn, a Premier Muskoka builder, in traditional Ditchburn styling with split cockpits, combing boards, split teardrop windshield and a large outboard rudder. A very manoeuverable planing hull makes this a fast and fun boat. One of 4 model 17's built in 1936 and the only one known to be in the water. Completely restored from 1997 to 1999 by Millar-Potter with all of the original hardware and most of the original wood being retained. Restoration included new gauges, upholstery, aluminum gas tank and a rebuilt 1949 Ford Flathead V8 engine with twin carbs, Mallory electronic ignition and a 12 volt generator. Boat was revarnished and the bottom repainted in 2007. This easily trailerable boat is stored inside between outings. It attracts lots of attention and has won several "Best Antique Runabout" awards in local shows over the years. This is a truly great example of Canadian craftsmanship and there are very few of these to be found.

These boats were the pride of Lake Simcoe as they were made in Simcoe, Ontario. The plant burned without proper insurance by the owners and the company perished and did not recover. Crate that we know of in existence and one of only a handful that we know to still exist to this day. This is one of the classic enclosed cruisers that Chris Craft produced in the early 50's. There were only 130 of these hulls made. The boat is 31'7" in length at the water line, and has a 10'3" beam. She draws only 24" so is a good cruiser for shallow waters. With a fuel capacity of 120 gallons and a 15 gallon fresh water tank this is a great cruising family boat. She has a full mahogany hull and updated engines. Here is a small project boat that will turn into a jewel once again. She needs some scraping and painting to restore her looks.
