Built and launched in 1937 for Joseph Atkinson, long time publisher of the Toronto Star, this boat was described by Herb Ditchburn as a "Special Runabout". From 1938 through to 1989 this boat was stored on BigWin Island in the Muskoka Lakes area of Ontario. Ernest Hemingway and H. G. Wells were among the famous authors and guests entertained by the Atkinsons on board. All the wood and hardware were fully restored in California in the early 1990's and again in 2012. The boat shows beautifully and is awesome with it's Scripps V-12.
