Learn how the process works (FAQ)
Built in 1903 by the Polson Iron Works of Toronto, the Rambler has a steel frame, English oak superstructure and interior panelling, and laminated mahogany floors. The hull is wood planks on steel ribs. The vessel is powered by a single GM six cylinder marine diesel engine (170 HP). Completely rebuilt in 1986, the Rambler is in good working condition. On November 2, 1984, the Rambler was run from her present location to Port Sandfield where it was put on flat bed truck for its trip to Port McNicol. There it was fully restored by Superior Sailboats and its owners Vic and Hazel Carpenter. The Rambler was fitted with new floors and lower frames and iron ribs which were secured to the original upper topside frames, and on entirely new bed. The hull was completely replanked with 3” fir. Some repairs were made to the original deck and superstructure. The upper deck was re-canvassed. The Rambler was fitted with a new stainless steel rudder. The vessel was completely rewired.
