"Fool's Gold" went through an entire restoration from 1998 to 2007 by owner who has owned the boat since 1989. Hull # 2584. Boat has 99% new wood. A 5200 bottom with sides and decks also done with 5200. Original motor has been totally rebuilt. original Holly Downdraft carb. All original hardware rechromed. All original gauges restored. All seats done as original with box springs in forward cockpit with kapok cushions and backs throughout. Wiring was done as original with cloth style wiring and retained 6 volt system. Name on transom was done in 24 karat goldleaf. 12 coats of varnish and boat has hardly been used, as it shows. 626 of these 24' upswept boats were made from 1929 to 1931. Only about 24 were made with the downdraft carb. Research shows with the museums registration and Antique Boat Society Listings that this is the only one left making this a rare model. Fool's Gold has won numerous awards for best runabout and best restoration at boat shows.
